When selecting a lithium battery laser welding machine, it’s not enough to look at power alone. Several interdependent parameters determine weld quality, consistency, and suitability for battery applications. Knowing how they work helps buyers make informed decisions.

Laser Power (W)
Typically ranging from 1000W to 6000W, laser power affects penetration depth. For thin tabs or busbars (0.2–1.0mm), 1000–1500W is often sufficient. Higher power may be needed for thicker connections, but must be balanced with speed and pulse control to avoid excessive heat.
Pulse Frequency (Hz)
This controls how many pulses are delivered per second. In pulsed mode, frequency influences weld continuity. For stable results on aluminum or copper, frequencies between 200–400Hz are common. Too low may cause gaps; too high can lead to overheating if not matched with speed.
Pulse Width and Shape
Also called pulse duration, this defines how long each laser pulse lasts (in milliseconds or microseconds). Short pulses reduce heat input, ideal for heat-sensitive lithium battery components. Adjustable pulse shapes (e.g., ramp-up, flat-top) help manage spatter and improve melt pool stability.
Beam Quality (M²)
A lower M² value means a tighter focus and higher energy density. High beam quality allows smaller spot sizes, enabling precise welds on narrow joints without damaging nearby insulation or seals—critical in lithium battery laser welding machine systems.
Welding Speed (mm/s)
Speed must be synchronized with power and frequency. Faster speeds reduce heat accumulation but require sufficient power to maintain penetration. Optimal speed depends on material, thickness, and joint design.
Focus Position and Spot Size
The location of the focal point relative to the material surface (positive, zero, or negative defocus) affects melt depth and width. A typical spot size ranges from 0.2–0.6mm, depending on lens configuration.
Understanding these parameters—and how they interact—allows users to optimize the lithium battery laser welding machine for reliable, high-quality production.
